Reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, you’ll notice many of the same conversations, stories, and events recorded. While they each have a unique personality, perspective, and purpose, they share a good bit of source material. John’s Gospel stands apart, as a distinct eye-witness account. Besides being one of the chosen 12 disciples, John, with his brother James, and Peter, was part of an inner circle within this group that witnessed some remarkable moments, giving him unique and intimate knowledge of Jesus’s life and ministry.

More than the other gospel writers, John wanted his readers to grasp that Jesus came from God and was God. In John 14:6 Jesus declares, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.” This study of John will give us insight into what it means to follow “the Way”—what we gain, what it will cost us, and how to follow well.
