Why bother to study the Minor Prophets? Looking beyond their strange imagery and harsh messages, we'll find:

• Insight into the tension between God’s judgment and His generous mercy
• Recognition of God’s “bigness,” and what it means that He is sovereign
• Object lessons about superficial religion versus genuine faith
• Challenging reminders that injustice breaks God’s heart, and should also break ours
• A picture of why we needed a Savior, and God’s great plan for mankind

The four books in this study reveal a range of styles and messages. Jonah is the one prophet many are familiar with, but his dramatic story differs greatly from all the others. Micah is more typical, with doom-and-gloom themes of sin, injustice, and coming disaster. Nahum’s severe message isn't directed at God’s people, but at their enemy. Habakkuk draws us in to a heartfelt conversation with God as he searches for understanding, teaching us how to wait for this ourselves.

The prophetic books are complex, and this study won’t answer every question they raise; but it will help you learn who these people were and what they had to say. More importantly, it will challenge us all to consider the character of God, and our relationship to Him.
